ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT FOR ST. RAYMOND HIGH SCHOOL FOR BOYS
St. Raymond Names New Athletic Director

Congratulations to Mr. Jorge Lopez (or as he is known in the halls of SRHS, Coach) on being named St. Raymond’s newest Athletic Director!
With 25 years of dedicated service in Catholic education, Jorge has spent his career inspiring and guiding young minds as a Social Studies teacher.
In addition to his work in the classroom, Jorge has played a pivotal role in the ongoing development and success of the school’s basketball program. Before being named Head Varsity Coach in 2012, Coach Lopez served in multiple capacities, including Varsity B Head Coach, Freshman Head Coach, and Varsity Assistant Coach. Since taking over as Head Coach, he has compiled a 199–134 record. Under his leadership, the team has made seven Archdiocesan Championship appearances, securing titles in both 2013 and 2024. Most recently, in 2025, Coach Lopez guided the Ravens to an appearance in the New York City Intersectional C.H.S.A.A. Championship. Over the course of his 25-year coaching career, Coach Lopez has mentored more than 22 athletes who have gone on to compete at the Division I level, as well as numerous others who have continued their athletic careers at Division II and III institutions.
St. Raymond High School for Boys is excited to see how Jorge will bring the Athletic Department into a new and exciting path.
St. Raymond Names New Varsity Baseball Coach

St. Raymond High School for Boys is proud to announce Kenneth Velazquez as the new Varsity Baseball Coach.
Coach Velazquez was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, and proudly graduated from Lehman High School. He went on to serve with distinction for 20 years in the New York City Police Department, followed by 15 years of dedicated service with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
For over three decades, Coach Velazquez has been an active figure in the Bronx baseball community, coaching at various levels. The past eight years have seen him serve in multiple coaching roles and most recently as Varsity assistant coach to both Marc DeLuca and Benjamin Aguirre. His coaching resume also includes four years at Columbus High School and two years at American Studies at Lehman College.
Throughout his career, he has coached, mentored, and developed numerous student-athletes, including collegiate and professional players. Among them is his son, Andrew Velazquez, who holds the distinction of being the only Bronx-born player to suit up for the New York Yankees.
Coach Velazquez lives by the philosophy: “A good coach can change a game… a great coach can change a life.”
We are excited to have Coach Velazquez lead our Varsity program and continue his legacy of excellence both on and off the field.
